Getting Started with INSIGHTS Excellence

What's Excellence all about?

INSIGHTS Excellence is all about closed groups and private interactions. It allows you to invite your own audience, create your own Forums, hold focused discussions and more. The best part is that it is hosted entirely on the INSIGHTS community platforms. This means that you still have access to all of the knowledge and content that's on INSIGHTS, but you also get to access and manage your private groups on any of the INSIGHTS applications.

Excellence Terminology

We use some specific terminology when referring to Excellence. To make sure you're aware of what we're talking about, below is a few of the most important terms and their meanings.

Excellence Circles

Excellence Circles are what all your Forums and Members belong to. For example, a Journal Club or a Hospital can be an Excellence Circle. When you invite someone to join your private group, you are inviting them to join your Excellence Circle.

Forums

Forums are essentially collections of knowledge. You can create as many as you want, and you can decide which members of your Excellence Circle have access to the different Forums. Forums should have a Moderator assigned to them, who will be in charge of adding content to the Forum and managing discussions. A practical example is a Department of Orthopedics having a Forum for Knee and a Forum for Shoulder.

Moderators

Moderators are promoted to that role via the Excellence Console by an Admin. The Moderators can create or are assigned to a Forum and are in charge of adding content and moderating discussions. Only Moderators have the right to add content to a Forum. The role of Moderator can be applied and removed at any time from the Excellence Console.

Setting up your Excellence Circle

There are a few steps to follow if you want to get the most out of your Excellence Circle. We've listed  them below.

1. Create some Forums

We recommend doing this first, so that when your members accept their invitations, they have some Forums to see. To learn about how to create Forums, see this post. If you need to change something about the Forums, you can always edit them at any time. To learn how to do this, see this post.

2. Invite some Members

Now that you've created some Forums, the next step is to invite the people who you think should join your Excellence Circle. There are two ways to invite members to your Circle. 3. Add some content to your Forums

Now that you have both Forums and Members, the next step is to add some content to those Forums. Any content you find on INSIGHTS can be easily added to your Forums, to learn how to do this, see this post. External content such as a PDF on your computer, or a link to another website can also be added. To learn how, see this post.

Some final notes

Notifications

One of the big benefits of INSIGHTS Excellence, is that Members will be notified whenever a Forum they are participating in is updated. This means that whenever new content is added, or a discussion started, they will be notified immediately.
